In preparation for the Slaithwaite Motor Club, Opposite
Lock Rally, we have provided some images of the loose roads and the
condition they are in at the moment.
We have only had a quarter of an inch of rain at Manby since the beginning
of June so the ground is like iron and very difficult to grade. We
have been hoping for rain for weeks but it keeps going round Manby and
missing us completely.
At the moment, 90% of the roads are in great order and if dry,
intermediate tyres would be the choice for the existing older roads.
The new sections on the grass will be very slippery until a number of cars
have passed and worn away the grass - then you can expect far more grip
and control - so be careful!
When parts arrive to repair our bulldozer we have a further 500m of roads
to build where it's too hard for the grader to work. We expect to
have this completed early next week. (w/c 17/07/06).
If you are familiar with the venue already, you may be able to follow the
images below as they go around the loose roads - we have tried where
possible to include landmarks to give you an idea of where you are!
This shouldn't benefit anyone from a Rallying point of view - it's more
for your interested than anything.
Some parts of the loose roads will not be as smooth as we would like
unless we get some rain to soften the ground so we can grade further -
rock hard suspension might not be ideal! These are not tarmac stages
so bear it in mind when you set up your car. Although 90% will be
smooth and tarmac spec would be ok, remember the 10%
We will be taking pictures of all cars, and these pictures will be on the
Manby Motorplex website soon after the Rally. Hope for some rain
now, and dry on the day and hopefully we will all be happy!
Good luck and have fun!
